What Needs Doing?

I was very restless before my previous blog “ Whats Wrong” but when I finished it though I am weak on writing which you all have to bare with me, I feel a lot lighter now as I needed to take all that out of my system. Now that I have I am much more relaxed and can share more of my thoughts with you all.

Previously in my posts I mentioned what needs to be done to get our country on the right track. Here I would not use the phrase ‘right track again’ because it has never been on the right track. I am going to restrain my self here to talk about how the politicians has robbed our country for their own interests and gains to its bare nickles rather I would like to mention the role we can play in brining the better change for our country. The word change has been used so often in every election by every corrupt politician that it has worn out but still we have to use it is a good word and it explains the whole concept.

Anyone with a conscience, a bit of wisdom, a bit of knowledge of Pakistan’s past and present, anyone who is not enjoying the fruits by corruption, humanity, eman, will to sacrifice and patriotism can bring the change we all need now. Now a days the role of every person who has a little bit of the above mentioned qualities can be a major add on to the cause especially the young ones and please I am not talking about the young ones who are so distarcted by  the mobile companies packages and cell phone marketings that they don’t even remember how to write an application without using u for you and thx for thanks( sorry guys but it is the truth and I have to say much more about that too but some other time). Also it should be mentioned here that while using the word young or youth should not be confused with just  college students but rather this word is used in a larger perspective for the young matured professionals of this country as well. No one can deny the importance of the more younger ones but I believe they need more time to study then to get involved in such things after all education is everything and they need to work hard to become the future leaders, educators, industrialists, economists, doctors and engineers.

Back to the topic; the role of the youth is the hot topic these days in the media and in social sectors. And it is right, as what the youth can do for this country no one else can. They are the force which is far more superior than anything. All that needs to be done is to wake them up by putting them in front lines, by bringing them into the system, by introducing them to the politics and social sector, by introducing them to the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, by teaching them the value of being a Muslim and last but not least making them believe in themselves. They need to be taught about the grim realities if nothing is done. They need to be taught their importance in the society. Youth has to be taught the fact that only grades and getting in to best universities is not enough; I mean only education is not enough but they have to be socially active as well. When I talk to my colleagues or relatives or friends about coming out and doing something practical for our future rather then sitting in our drawing rooms and hujras talking; I always get a very dissappointing reply. What would you do if you come out ? they say. What would happen to your job? how would you feed yourself? what about the lifestyle and worst of all what if you are killed? lolx. Would you have a job, food, education, luxury, freedom and life if Allah forbids there is no more country and we are in a position Iraq, Palestine, Libya are at this time.

I am not saying here to leave your life, quit your job, forget about your family and come out and shout on the streets. That time has not come yet and may Allah save us from that times and when it comes we all have to do that but at the moment what I, you and all of us needs to do is to raise our voice either way we can. Through meetings, sms, social websites, media, seminars whatever wherever you get a chance in any sort of gathering make it your objective to say something positive for the country in it. Make people to listen to you gather like minded people, become a member of any organization working on the same agenda, form an organization yourself, a society anything just for the sake of the cause which is upon us.

These days the social networks can play a significant role as it did in the Egyptian up rise. Use that for your benefit. Let me share my own recent experience with you all. I have been using Facebook for quiet sometime now but i am not a Facebook junkie and recently 2 or 3 days earlier I started a page ” Mera Pakistan” http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mera-Pakistan/151318818282644 to get my friends to join me and share there views there but i have been struck by utter disappointment when i did not receive any feed back other than a few likes. I have noticed that who ever is using Facebook theses days they are using it just for watching funny videos and updating useless statuses and liking any such page as mine or any page or group related to cause has become a fashion type thingy. They don’t bother to look into something which has a few words to read so how would they be a part of something like this.  This attitude needs to be changed for better.

I have to wind up this post too as it becomes very long and i dont want you guys to get scared and run away so the final thought would be to to educate our people especially youth but for that educated people are required and by educated i mean not just para likha but people who know things. Before becoming a part of something the youth needs to become more social. Engage in social and humanitarian activities. Look around them to the people below  their life style and get to know them. They need to know about their own country and then raise their voice through any means available to them. Write something on your Facebook page, join the pages already there rather than creating you own, say something in your friends gathering, family meetings, Eid is coming spread your thoughts but remember there is no need to talk about what is happening everybody knows that . Talk about solutions. Most importantly know Islam. What you are worth if you are a better Muslim. Seek guidence from the divine Quran and Sunnah.  Gather like minded people and become one.

What’s Wrong!

Its 14th August and its 12 am, I have been changing sides in my bed for the last one hour trying to go to sleep because I have to get up for sehri and then go to office but honestly I couldn’t sleep. I just kept on reciting every Surah of the Quran I remembered to help me go to sleep but couldn’t succeed. The thought of living in a country where the worst possible people are ruling us wouldn’t let me sleep. The thought of I doing nothing in the worst of time for my country would not let me sleep. I am doing nothing just trying to go to sleep in my comfy bed with the AC on on top of my head and I am wearing a comforter in the month of August trying to cope up with the cold I am feeling from it. Shame on me and shame on my so called patriotism which I showed for the last few days by sticking a flag pin in my shirt over my heart. The flag that has given me hope , the flag that gives me my identity, the flag that enables me to call myself a Pakistani but what am I doing for it? I am going to tell you what I am doing for my country.sab_say_pehlay_pakistan__by_rebel561

I wake up every morning at a time when the sun is at peak as it is summer. I don’t offer Fajr prayers because I go to bed so late because I watch movies on TV all night. I go to my office do my job at which I am good at and I try to be the best but still I perform the same old routines daily. Discuss current issues with a few colleagues of mine about the the situation in the country. I offer my Zhur prayers in the office during lunch time and sit there till 5 when I am off to home. I get home, get a warm well come and change into something comfy and sit to watch more tv. I watch tv till something comes up with friends and I go out with them. Normally we talk about history and Islam and do speeches about the current issues and how bad the government is running this country. During the time if I get the chance out of my busy schedule of watching tv I offer asar and maghrib prayers. It gets dark, time for dinner mom calls me for it and I eat the best food my father puts on the table for me everyday through his hard work and I am off to bed again. Not to sleep but to watch more tv. And then I am off to sleep to wake up the next day for the same routine again.

U get it people?

Do you see Pakistan in it somewhere. I have put a sketch of my daily routine in front of you now place yourselves in my place and sketch up your routines. Is there Pakistan in it ? I am most definitely sure it is not  there. Why is it not there? I don’t know but something has come up on me and I am feeling very very p***** off at myself at this time.

I don’t know what has come over me. This isn’t the first time though but this time its something very strange. I have committed many sins, I have not been a good Muslim but this over passes everything. I feel like if I am not doing anything for my country I am committing the biggest sin of all. I feel like committing Gunah-e- Kabira.  Am I the only one here feeling this way for my Pakistan which has given me so much. The mother land which has given me identity, which has given me my freedom, the education, which has given me every luxury one can imagine in life; a home, a car, a job, money, that’s all because of this country and not some guy who is sitting on the thrown ( I would call it) or not some organization which has given me the job its not them it’s the country people the country our home land our mother land Pakistan, Pakistan, PAKISTAN.

I am sure its not just me but countless people in our beloved country might be thinking the same way at this time and I pray to Allah that they do the same what I am going to do (laterWinking smile). We need to think for our country. We need to put Pakistan in the daily routine of ours not by debating amongst each other about the corruption and current affairs and stuff but to think positively and optimistically. Nothing has gone wrong to such an extent that cannot be reversed. Many nations have come back from the state no one thought they could recover from but they did and so can we. We have everything we need here especially the brains and the motivation to bring a change in to the system. Our constitution is still here, our institutions are still here doesn’t matter what state they are in at this time. We have the guidelines in our constitution to run the country and most of all we have Quran and Sunnah to show us the right path to follow. We have the best brains and man power. We have the best resources any country would want to have, we have the best intellects, the best aalims, we have the best scientists, we have the best students who graduated from foreign universities with distinction even the western world cant believe, we have the best policy makers, we have the best economists we the best educators, we have the finest journalists and we have the best army to protect all of above. What we lack in is faith and patriotism.

Faith (Eman): yes we do not have it. We have strayed so far from our religion and our believe in Allah that we do not see the light anymore to which we should go and achieve the glory of which Iqbal dreamt for and Jinnah fought for. We have to follow Quran and Sunnah. We do not need anything else believe me. I have started listening to translation of Quran though my knowledge and understanding is vey mere but the things said straight forwardly in Quran and the directions given are enough for us. All we need to do is to study it. It shows a young man its path in life and it explains his role in the society in such detail that one does not need anything else. We need to follow Sunnah in our daily life and this whole society would become a model one. Though it is tough as our so called busy and worldly daily routines does not allow us to do so but that is not an excuse, we have to, that’s the only way. The biggest interest of todays young person as far as Islam goes is to talk about the Qiamat. It fascinates them. The symbols, prophecies which have been full filled and others which are still to come. But no one is preparing for it. All I am trying to say here is that to become a better Muslim or a better Pakistani one needs to follow the directions given to us in the Quran and one needs to follow the life style of Muhammad PBUH.

Patriotism: yes we do not have that either. Our patriotism awakes when Pakistan is playing a cricket match or when its this day of the year i.e 14th August and that is not for the country, it is just a mere excuse to go out and play havoc in the streets and run bikes with out their silencers on or show off to your friends how much Pakistani they are.

Come on people that’s not what the time demands from us. We are on reverse here. Nations which came into existence after us are way ahead of us. The non Muslim states are following the laws of state mentioned in the Quran to run there system believe it or not and here we are sitting on our bottoms with the mobile phones to our ears and fingers and doing nothing.

What we need to do here is to come out any way one can men and women, young or old, educated or not, privileged or not. Raise your voice either way you can. Start promoting the ideas of change in your home, in your street, in your university, in your community of friends, in your city. If you are one like me from a middle class or from an elite class who are privileged enough that their fathers or relatives are sitting on the controlling chairs you need to come out with your voice high just for this country. This country needs us more than ever my brothers and sisters, WAKE UP.

What change are we talking here? lets throw a light on it in the next post as this would get too long to be read with interest.

I would like you to see this video of Quaid e Azam:
